        Alfred Place, Ware Lane, Dorset

The Garden Flat is on the ground floor of Alfred Place, a Regency House overlooking Lyme Bay and situated in  England's first natural World Heritage Site - the Jurassic Coast, on Dorset's beautiful coastline at Lyme Regis.

It is easily accessible to walkers, cars and cyclists, situated on a quiet lane close to the National Trust footpath,  which leads to the SW Coast Path, Undercliff Nature Reserve, the Cobb and Lyme Regis harbour.

It is also a very short walk into Lyme Regis town centre with its ancient water mill, now fully restored and working once more.

There are also historic lanes and  museums to explore,  galleries,  plenty of places to eat, and vibrant shops.

 The Garden Flat

Entrance

 

 The flat  was originally the servants' quarters of Alfred Place and occupies the whole of the ground floor.  It is secluded and totally private with its own front entrance.

It has been completely refurbished to provide comfortable and totally up-to-date accommodation for two people, whilst retaining its original character, including the original flagstone floor* - of local blue lias bearing fossil imprints.

*NB: slightly worn and uneven in some places

The front door opens to a small entrance hall suitable for storing outdoor (wet) clothing and boots; this leads to a larger hallway and beyond is the central hall from which the sitting/dining room, galley kitchen, bedroom and shower room are all accessed.

Although the entire flat is centrally heated, a wood-burning stove in the sitting room creates additional comfort and atmosphere. It is easy to manage; plenty of kindling and a complimentary basket of logs are provided.

In addition to WiFi access, television and DVD
player, guests will find books, puzzles and games , as well as plenty of local tourist information.

Guests are welcomed with a tray laid ready for tea - a fresh pint of milk will be found in the 'fridge / freezer - coffee, other assorted hot drinks and cereals are also provided.

The bedroom

  

All bedding and linen is provided and the comfor-table twin beds are ready made for your arrival.

They can be linked, on request, to provide a very large double bed.

A hair drier, radio/alarm clock, and even hot water bottles, are available should you need them.

The shower room

The shower room provides contemporary comfort with a spacious shower unit and large heated towel rail.>>

Sets of towels are provided, and a shaving socket will be found above the mirror.

Separate towels for swimming can also be provided, on request.>>

The kitchen

The galley kitchen is well equipped and includes:

  • a small dishwasher
  • fully automatic washing machine
  • steam iron and ironing board
  • combination microwave oven   with conventional convection oven and grill
  • single induction hob
  • electric food steamer
  • large 'fridge/freezer (under the stairs in the main hall)
  • and all the usual small appliances
All household linen is provided, together with detergents, and 'kitchen sink' materials.  There are also facilities for all recyclable materials.

The garden terrace

A south-facing terrace with sea views  and garden furniture is available for guests' use; this is at the front of the house at first floor level.

Parking is off-road - there are no parking charges.
